911 Center lock wheels - independent tyre repairer recommendations for Cambridge area

Hi,

One of my 992's rear tyres has picked up a slow puncture. I can have the 3 month old tyre (Goodyear Eagle F1) replaced at my OPC for an eye watering amount but I'd like to find an independent in the area that can handle 315 section center locks to assess whether a repair is feasible or not. Unfortunately, none of the companies that I've contacted yet (mostly in the Huntingdon/Central Cambridge area) seem to have a suitable torque wrench.

Does anyone here know somebody relatively locally that might be able to help?

Thanks in advance

Dean

Hi Dean, I know Phil Swain (991 register) uses a company in Stevenage that can do centre locks, maybe contact him.
have you tried Bartlett in Huntingdon or maybe Pristine Automotive in Huntingdon. I know Pristine do tyres and are Porsche specialists too

Wayne,

Thank you! I'll try Bartlett and Pristine tomorrow AM and if no joy, will contact Phil for details on the company in Stevenage.

Just spoke to Martin in Pristine Automotive and they're happy to do the repair. Appointment booked for tomorrow. Thanks again Wayne :)

If you're repairing a puncture in a tyre on a high performance 992 sportscar, you're bonkers - and there may be insurance implications too.
Repair by all means and keep as a spare, but fit a new boot to your car - you know it makes sense! [;)] [:D]

My Owners manual states that ...Tyres must never be repaired under any circumstances

When I quoted this to my OPC when they attempted to push Wheel / Tyre Insurance on me they could not answer whether or not it would pay out for a pair / full set should the wear rates require it

I know the answer to that one. They don’t. My wheel insurance only paid (partially) for the punctured tyre on my Spyder last year. I had to pay in full for the other.

Thanks Clive. I appreciate your point but if it’s a leaky valve or requires a minor plug far away from the sidewall, a repair is absolutely safe.

Have to give a massive thumbs up to Pristine Automotive in Huntingdon. Family business run by an ex Porsche/Audi Master Tech who clearly loves and takes huge pride in his work.
