718 Boxster versus 718 GTS (2.5L)

I have been trying to source a secondhand Boxster 718S but not with any degree of success mainly due to wanting a nice spec car with PASM and a decent history. I had a Cayman 718S new about 9 years ago and had PASM on the car due to the harsh ride on 20” alloys without it.. Most of the cars for sale have 20” alloys so with the deterioration of roads and wanting to use it for daily driving for myself and my wife I felt that PASM was a must.
I am now considering the Boxster GTS as it has PASM as standard and other nice options as standard(although more expensive as a result).
The issue that I am trying to resolve concerns the ride and handling in comparison with a 718S Boxster with PASM and same size wheels. I know that the suspension is 10 or is it 20mm lower on the GTS so the ride is probably stiffer.
What do owners think of the GTS ride quality for daily use or other differences with the 718S.

Note that the ride height with PASM on a 718 BS is lowered by 10mm anyway, and is an option for the 718 BGTS where the standard suspension is 20mm lower. I’m sure there are BGTSs out there with the 10mm option.🤔

I think the only way you’re going to find what suits you - and your wife - best is to drive some cars. Other people’s opinions are personal to them.

Good luck with your quest.

Jeff is correct.

Sport PASM is standard on the GTS (-20mm) where as PASM was a NCO and increased the ride height by 10mm.

I’ve had both and personally prefer the ride on SPASM than PASM but, again as Jeff mentioned, you’ll need to drive them to make your decision.

The GTS has lots of options as standard and you may find a decently specced S is the same as the GTS.

Here’s something else to mull over. PASM is not an “on-off” switch, but adapts to your driving style. It could be that a 718 BS with PASM has a slightly more compliant set-up than one without.🤔

I have driven a 987.1 with PASM, I have owned 2 x 987.2 without PASM (one on 18in one on 19in) without PASM, and have driven a 718 on 20's without PASM.

Of all of them the 718 felt the best/most comfortable on mixed surfaces.

I would "like" PASM on my current 987.2 - but its not a need on that car, and based on my experiences of later cars, less of an issue.

Personally if I found the right car and PASM was the only missing thing then it wouldn't be a deal breaker.
