Was very fortunate to get a last-minute invite to the 924OC celebration at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone today. A couple of my championship's race cars were there, together with these beauties:

The PEC pulled out all the stops to look after everyone. Count was at least 101 924s.

Very enjoyable day and well run by both the OC and Porsche. Interesting to see a number of special editions including 5 S Le Mans, 2 n/a Le Mans and one Martini, plus the Silverstone OPC Martini restoration project in progress. Rain tried to dampen things but made the PEC circuit more interesting for those who ventured out.

Pardon my iggorance but what was the red car behind the milky glass (behind the white Elite rebuild)? Saw Ricky having a look at it at one point. Is it a LeMans racer rebuild project?

Chris.

It's a very rare GTS (I think, these confuse me!) reputed mileage in the hundreds and stored as a showpiece, reputedly going up for auction soon with a tag of £1M. It was almost under armed guard!

It is a very special GTR which has been in Japanese ownership (and apparently sitting IN his house) for many years - just brought over. It has around 160 km, so is a fantastic original car[;)]
Marvellous 40th anniversary event and fitting location for the enthusiasts of the 924OC.

For me, the early GTR is the ultimate incarnation of the 924. The later versions of the GTR and GTP became too 944 looking with its boxed arches. This GTR looks like a Carrera GT / GTS on steroids. It retains the essence of 924 with body shell, engine and gearbox but with circa 375bhp out of the 2.0l block which is shared with all 924 iterations. We were extremely lucky to have it at PEC. I wish I spent more time pawing over it, but Ricky was concerned I was getting a little excited!! One off the rarest of all Porsche models and one often over looked/forgotten/ignored by Porsche enthusiasts
