Mike - hi that picture looks great -- up to your usual high standards thx ps. could not get the photobucket link to the other Britcar photos to work though -- is it me? Quick summary about our B24 race - these races are one amazing challenge. It was dominated by rain, we ran wets for 22 of the 24 hrs. This reduced the attrition rate of the entries quite dramatically and 52 of the 60 runners were classified - amazing (in 2008 probably half that number finished racing). We did actually qualify last as we had no desire to push the car - just get the drivers through. We finished 39th overall out of 60 starters and 15th out of 23 in our class -- not a great result but we covered 1436 miles at an average speed of almost exactly 60mph including stops. Car ran faultlessy but did have to be recovered once from Stowe when the driver had a minor spin and could not work out how to start the stalled engine!! Demisting was a major issue as racecars leak water which then evaporates inside the warm cabin. My first stint of almost 3 hrs was tough as I wrestled with poor visibility and ended up using a cleaning device on a stick whilst driving !! By the end of the stint my usual Porsche mechanic had taken out a 12v ceramic heater from my 968 and installed it in 3 minutes for the next driver. It worked well. It would be fair to say that as a team of drivers we were working around the handling characteristics of the car - great care was required in 2 areas. Firstly downshifts - revs needed to be matched to road speed or all sorts of twitching occured at the rear. Secondly as the tyres wore during each long stint and the fuel load decreased a tendency to oversteer started to make cornering tricky. I find I can drive around such things and that is probably one inevitable aspect of endurance racing but 1 of the drivers was less comfortable with it at that affected their lap times. That is all for now - tiredness is taking hold so off to bed !!
