2003 996 in built phone

My 996 (2003) has the PCM unit with a handset.

I have tried an o2 and BT SIM in it and both will make and receive calls EXCEPT I cannot hear anything other than a little bit of hiss when I turn the volume up. Equally if I speak in the car nothing goes to the phone which is st the other end of the call.

Also when dialling out I don't get a ringing tone from the phone I am calling.

Not essential to have it working but would like to use it if possible.

I can't think of anything obvious, and all I can suggest is getting a diagnostic check done, to see if there are any faults recorded. If you are anywhere near me (Maidenhead, Berkshire) I would be happy to do it for you. Otherwise, any Porsche Centre or Porsche Specialist will be able to do it for you.
 
Ps if you have a smart phone you can forward calls to the Porsche sim and so use your phone hands free (works for me ) that's once its working of course!

 
I have a similar issue with my PCM1 phone. Earlier this years the unit worked fine, now the system sometimes (normally) won't recognise the SIM (made more annoying as getting a compatible SIM was not easy).
As it's an old unit that has been taken out a few times my thoughts were to wait until the whole thing packs up and get all the faults fixed at the same time? I don't want to pay-out to get the phone system fixed then have to pay-out again when (inevitably) the Sat Nav screen fails.
I am assuming that any repairs to the until will be a few £100 to fix, whatever the fault is? Anyone have any experience of this?
 
Hi, can I also jump in on this post. My 1999 c2 ha a phone system fitted. One where you use to sit a Nokia 8210 on a cradle. You know, the smallest phone. I now have an apple phone. Does anyone know any shortcuts to using the new phone, thanks
