1983 Porsche 911 TC Query

Hi,

I'm looking at purchasing a 1983 Porsche 911 but it's being advertised as a 911 TC. I'll confess I'm no Porsche guru but I'm not aware of any 911 as that type of model, only SC's and Turbo's around that time. I've made some inquiries with the seller and the car does seem to have TC badges. Is this something done by some avid enthusiast or is there something I've missed? The log book only identifies it as a Porsche Convertible.

Any info greatly appreciated.

No, you're absolutely right, Porsche have never built a 911 TC. I'm guessing someone has made the badge and the only explanation would be that perhaps it's a Targa and a previous owner thought it would look neat, or perhaps it's a convertable and they like the name Touring Cabriolet (the possibilities are endless!).

Each to his own...

Or perhaps it's a Turbo Cabriolet and the vendor doesn't know it, in which case you've struck the mother lode (if you like that kind of thing!)

The plate is EIW 398.

I did a background check on it last night and it looks like it has a bit of a chequered past.

Any further info greatly appreciated.

I had that issue too with some sites but the ones that do, definitely match the description. Although it seems to have been written off under its previous plate. Lets just say i won't be pursuing that one :)

Cheers
