Good evening guys.
Help needed sourcing a fuel pump relay for my 78 924, fuse on top type with 6 pin base. I would appreciate advice on sourcing one, anyone have one to spare or know of a good source?

No. 477 906 059, from some research it looks like this number relay were just fitted 76 to 78 models.

Regards

Does the car run if you bypass the relay with a link?

Have you opened the relay and tried resoldering the connections?

Thank you for your reply.

I am not sure, I just called into the garage and the lads said they were having difficulty sourcing a replacement relay. I can check.

Regards

Connie

Those have been NLA for a long time, I got my last one from the USA (used). They were only fitted to early cars, need to keep an eye open on ebay.com and abay. de. Later ones do not fit without wiring changes.

Could try Woolie http://www.wooliesworkshop.com

Great, thank you for the info and clarification. I am expecting it may be difficult to get one, yes great I will try the .de option.

Hope to be offering this car to the market shortly. 1978 2.0 37k miles with serious SH all old MOT.

Reg: RIJ 924

Original 2 spoke steering, thin steel indicator stalks, 4 speed box, no ps, even has a cover that clips on over the original stereo, no dash cracks, perfect seats, no upgrades with later 924 elements. Car was out of the country with me for a number of years but retains its near original special 924 reg as per all old MOT & SH.

Woolie say sold out.

Hi there,

How about this one, this looks correct to me?

What is the likelihood of getting the correct one delivered from Pelican parts?

haven't used them personally, but others have. Right part number, but with no picture difficult to say. Check they actually have one and watch out for customs duty and import taxes.

Cheers, yes I will try check. Gee delivery is expensive min @ $45 to $55

The relay wil have been made for Porsche not by Porsche so maybe used on other cars.

Have a look at VW relays from the same time period - there may be something that will do the same job - you'll need to talk to someone who specialises in older VWs, not a main dealer.

Get someone to look at the connections on the relay and resolder.

It might be all it needs to work again.

Hi there,

Yes indeed I must do that. Thank you, a specialist sounds like the best approach, they would be the same at the LT van, mk1 golf etc.

Hi,

Yes sounds like a manageable task, thank you. The garage suggested this as a possible option, if I can get one no harm to have a spare left with the car just in case........

There is no alternative fit for this relay, a large number of 924 owners have spent a great deal of time chasing this. It is 924 only.

Try James at Only 9 at Weaverham,Cheshire-my friend whose 1976/7 924 needed 1 (I've been assisting him to get it running) got 1 from him earlier this year-S/H I checked it out with a PP9 battery & approriate connections.
