Start of your 2.7 range: 1973 ( G -Programme)
Impact bumpers front and rear with integrated sidelights and indicators , new fenders, new reflective strip under engine lid. Porsche logo moved from rear lid to reflector strip, side sills extended, black look trim for carreras (with ducktail and lettering in US ).carreras available in coupe and targa forms, wide rubber strips face bumpers front and rear with two elastomer overriders at rear (including number plate lamps).New seats with integral head restraints, side window demist vents on dash and inertia seat belts std on all markets. Top entrystorage bins in doors , new 400 mm four spoke steering wheel, chrome disc removed from centre of restyled instruments, restyled indicator stalk, electronic rev counter and quartz clock fitted, soft knobs on centre dash. 80 lts steel fuel tank (although some markets used the plastic version) and goodrich space saver tyre. New hard targa top ( for cars without air con) with third locating peg on windshied. Single 66Ah battery replaces the previous twin arrangement, batteries now charged by a 55A 770W alternator. Engine size increased to 2687cc wiyh bosch K-Jetronic injection for the std 911 and 911S, and cast ( not forged pistons), transition to alusil barrels
( from nikasil) , new heat exchangers design, 13 lts engine oil capacity ( sporto is 15 lts ) , valve overlap relative to 1973 2,7 engine and port size on both models reduced ,new silencer to fit new bumper range, new heat exchanger design, larger (stainless steel) oil tank allows 12,000 mile service intervals to be introduced .New longer ratios fourth and fifth in the 915 gearbox,new over-centre mechanism for clutch pedal, brake pedal lenghtened from 232mm to 250mm to enable lighter action. One piece front anti-roll bar, towing eye weldedto right-hand side wishbone mount.Std 911 and 911S use case-iron M-type front calipers, 16mm front/rear anti-roll bars on 911 and 911S, 20mm and 18mm on carreras, forged alloy semi-trailing arms and rear ( with larger wheel bearings) Stardard 911 and 911S use ATS cookie cutter wheels.
