Hello folks,

This was the first run of the season for R27 and it was good to catch up with everyone following the winter break.

First meeting place was at Sprucefield, Lisburn. From there the group travelled north to Carrickfergus for the second meeting point, then on to Slemish Mountain, Ballymena, where legend has it St Patrick worked as a shepard tending his flock on the slopes of the extinct volcano. After Slemish the group travelled to Masserene Golf Club for lunch.

Anyhow, here are a few pictures from the day out.

Stopped out the back of Ballyclare for few group photos
(Slemish in the background - a long time ago it would have looked very different as an active volcano)

John's new pride and joy - Cayman GTS looked particulary nice but then I am biased being a big Cayman fan.

My daughter came along for the run but I'm not so sure she felt as enthusiastic as the rest of us. She'll understand the appeal of these cars one day.

Soon we were off, down past what has to be the best named area of Northern Ireland, the Misty Glen, and over towards Broughshane.

The younger ones looked to the horizon while the older ones gabbled and kicked tyres.

We even celebrated a member's recent retirement with a cake on the mountain. Not sure if Rebecca knew she was eating the head though!

It was getting pretty cold up the mountain so we headed back to the car to warm up. Not sure which I prefer, the view of the mountain behind or this view of Porsches out the front.

There's that nice red Cayman GTS again. If you're interested, this, as was all the pictures here, was taken with an iPhone 6. This image had a little tweaking done in Snapseed app afterwards. Have to say, since getting the iPhone 6 my proper camera is rarely out of my bag now, such is the quality of images the iPhone6 can take.

Unfortunately, Rebecca and I had to cut our day short due to family commitments and left shortly after Slemish, so my photos end here. We did take the scenic route home, down the Carnlough Road to the A2 Coast Road and back home. Thankfully both the Carnlough Road and the Coast Road were deserted, probably due to the Irish rugby being on TV, but we benefited by having clear roads the whole way which made for a fun drive home. ahem [:)]

Again, thanks to the organisers of today's run and apologies we couldn't make it as far as the lunch venue.

I hope you all enjoyed yourselves and got home safely. Catch you all at the next drive.

Regards
David
