My friend Rich of Motorpunk and Carfection fame posted up the following on his socials:

”This is Roy James. He was a racing driver, silversmith and great train robber. I’ve spent years unravelling his colourful life and will soon publish a book called “Looking for the real weasel.” In it I troll Bernie Ecclestone by post, interview old F1 drivers, meet gangsters and learn about his many girlfriends. There’s one instance of topless hang-gliding and a barely plausible story about drug smuggling using jet skis.”

The launch is on Wednesday the 22nd of May which coincides with The Motorist’s “Not just Wings and Wheels” meet there from 17:00-21:00 too.

I’m planning on heading down after work once I know the details/timings (probably just in the daily driver) - should be a good evening and something a bit different on a school night.

He’s written some books about obscure and abandoned petrol stations (yes really) and his “Confessions from quality control” book is a genuine laugh out loud compendium of the bizarre: Amazon Link

If you’ve got an hour and a half to kill them you could do a lot worse than watch his interview with James Martin from JayEmm on Cars about tales from the car factories in the 90s: JayEmm Link

I’ll post up more details and timings when I get them
