I am the second owner of this 2016 registered, 2017 model year car. The car has done 118k miles. The first owner did a lot of motorway miles in it. I do that occasionally. The majority of my journeys (one way) are around 10-12 miles. Just enough to get the engine up to temperature. I use good quality diesel fuel (Shell or equivalent) to make sure the engine is well lubricated. The car has always been maintained on time and to plan. The engine seems to rattle a lot around 1100 rpm (audible inside) and that rattle goes away once the revs are raised by applying more throttle. I am also noticing more vibration in the cabin at idling speed and at times, when outside, I hear the engine ever so slightly hunting. I have had the car looked at by a couple of specialist and generalist garages using diagnostics tools. On both occasions nothing remarkable was reported. Does anyone else experience this with their Diesel Macan? Feedback would be appreciated. RG

Turbo Diesel Macan S - 2017 Model Year

I owned one of the first diesel versions for 6 years from 2014. I still believe it was one the best models in the range.
188k miles is not exceptional for a diesel, but the engines do tend to become a bit more rattly as they age and the diesel version always was knocky and noisy. Check for any loose attached ancillaries, heat shields, exhaust baffles etc. A change of oil using a slightly heavier grade might help.
For the vibration, check engine mountings. They're likely to be original units and a bit decrepit at 12 years old.

Clive
