We have a 14month old and done less than 7000 miles Macan s which is saying need oil service either 24 days or 5700 miles, as anyone else had this Oil service problem way before the car should need servicing 20k / 2 years,
Porsche UK can't give me an answer why the oil is ok to do another 5700 miles, but needs to be done in 24 days, Crazy. it happen to our last Macan after 20 months so serviced early. anyone with info would help. Ian

Ian,
It was probably because the car had the pre-delivery inspection by the dealer months before it was sold to you. I have the same problem in my Cayenne S bought new in October 24 and it says that it needs servicing in the next 28 days. I raised it with the dealer and this is the explanation provided. Unfortunately, you can't reset the computer so I have been advised to keep driving the car and ignore the service warning.
Steve

The car was a factory order and we took delivery as soon as it arrived March 2025.
Porsche are saying it will void the warranty if i don't have the oil service. They say it could be down to my Wife driving or weather conditions etc, i've never heard any think so stupid, this is a 3rd Macan S & last. My 911 is cheaper to run than the Macan.

Ian,
Macan engines (2.9L and 3.0L V6) use oil‑quality sensors to monitor contamination, temperature cycles, and moisture. So if the car is used for short trips, stop–start driving or journeys where the engine is not fully warmed up, engine oil degrades faster and the car will suggest an oil change between service intervals.

Mileage is the number to work to and the timescale is advisory.

Regards,

Clive

Clive, Porsche UK are not saying that, the car is saying 24 days or 5700 miles, if we don't have the oil service now the warranty could be void if any engine problems after the 24 days. The car as only done 6,400 miles in 14months, so won't do another 5700 miles before 2 years when it needs servicing, due to 2 years.
Oil service is £465, then service March 2027 is £752 ( Solihull )
Porsche advertise car servicing as 2years or 20k.

OK,
In that case you need to get it done in the next 24 days!
As it's the cost that's irritating you, buy the oil and a Porsche filter yourself and have an Indy carry out the change. Just verify he has the equipment to reset the PCM.
Regards,

Clive

Thanks Clive, Its not just cost, its the stupid reply i got from Porsche uk ref Driving slow, short distance, Driving it to Hard, the weather being to hot or cold. so many silly reasons why the oil needs changing after 6400 miles. Ive had 911 for over 20 years which do 3k / 5k per year and never had this problem and we do same driving and same temp. The Service From Porsche Solihull & UK as been very poor and know one will confirm yes or no that it will void the warranty only that it could if engine problem after due date. I would advise anyone doing small mileage to think twice before having Macan as 911 def cheaper to run ref servicing. This is my wife 3rd and she was happy with them. The car oil senser must be wrong 24 days or 5700 miles crazy.

Ian,

I changed the oil in my Macan GTS back last January and here were the costs involved at the time:-

Mobil 1 ESP 5w30 Advanced Fully Synthetic Engine Oil 2 x 5 Litres incl. VAT delivered - £90.
Porsche Centre Oil Filter and gaskets including PCGB discount - £45
Porsche Indie - Drain/replenish supplied oil, fit new filter, reset PCM and dispose of discarded oil - £50
Total £185.

So it's well worth complying in order to preserve engine longevity IMHO.

Regards,

Clive

My money would be someone making a mistake during the PDI and setting the mileage/time for something other than 2yr/20000 miles. There's no way the "onboard oil analysis" would change that much. Most do nothing or only tweak the service interval. I'm not even sure the Porsche one actually analyses anything, it just uses a basic calculation of cold starts, number of starts etc.

If you are dealing with Solihull you are presumably in E-Midlands. I'm in the Warwick area and have a diagnostic scanner. Happy to reset your Service reminder notification, you just need to remember to get it serviced next year!

I’ve a similar conundrum with our 16613 mile gts that’s 4 years old In November that’s got Porsche extended warranty.
It was last serviced in November 24 at 6366 miles and the dashboard now indicates that an oil service is required in 6100 miles in July 26 and a service in 9800 miles in November 26.
If I have the oil service in July will it have to be changed again in November?
As l won’t be hitting those mileages and would still be in the 2 years/20k window should l ignore the oil service and go for the full service in November?

You have a normal routine 4 year service coming up in November and an oil change is recommended in July - 7 months from the last oil change - so it'll be another 4/5 months before the next service and therefore the pattern seems consistent with the way you are using your Macan.

You could delay the oil change in November, but it'll need doing anyway early in the New Year and will involve another trip to the workshop. Personally I would have it done in November and also avoid any Extended Warranty issues.

I wouldn't ignore the oil change recommendation.

Clive

Thanks Clive for responding but, with respect, l don’t think you’ve picked up the right timelines.
The oil was changed 19 months ago in Nov 24 and, come July, is unlikely to have done the 16400 miles projected by the cars computer.
The demanded main service schedule precisely mirrors the required 20k miles / 2 year interval although, again, l won’t hit that mileage.
So, left with a 4 month earlier demand for an oil service even though those mileages won’t be hit,
do l split the difference and service it in September or will it affect my extended warranty?

Sorry a bit of a senior moment!
I'd be inclined to have a chat with your PC service manager to agree the way forward.

Regards,

Clive

There is a 1000 mile/ 1 month leeway on the servicing interval requirements. Complying within that time maintains any warranty provisions.
Getting the 4 year service done in August (check the actual date your oil service is due) should cover you for both.
Book your date early so that you don't get caught out.
