At What Speed Does The Rear Wing Actually Raise On Your 718 Cayman / Boxster?

I have just had the drive unit replaced on the rear wing of my 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 due to a fault where the wing over extended and wouldn't retract.

According to the owners manual the rear wing should extend at approx. 77mph, but I noticed this wasn't happening. When I tested it, it was 83mph before it extended. Now I don't know what speed it raised at before the parts being replaced but I am sure it was below 80mph. What are others experience as to what speed you need to be travelling at before the spoiler raises?

My OPC says the speed is not adjustable.

I can't see the wing extend whilst I'm driving. I just assume it goes up as per the manual.

I don’t think it should be a worry on stability grounds at 80-90 mph and I’d see it as a benefit as you can go faster without it being obvious from the rear spoiler position.

If I stretch up while looking in the rear view mirror I can just see the tip. I was only really checking it was working as the mechanism had just been replaced under warranty and I wanted to make sure it was functioning correctly.

On my 981 it deploys at a GPS measures 76 mph which, as it happens is my preferred cruise control setting for motorways. 74mph and it will stay down, 75 mph and it may or may not come up depending on conditions. 76 mph and it is always up. I wish it was optional up to 80mph at least. I don't think anything changed for the 718

On my 987.2 the rear wing can be deployed manually at any speed John, and even when stationary. Isn’t it the same for the 981 and 718?

Do you know what speed your speedo is showing when GPS measures 76mph?

Jeff, yes mine can be raised at any speed, but I would really like it if I could keep it down at anything below 80+ DRS you know!
Mark, the vehicle speedo is a good match for the GPS, it indicates 77/78 at a GPS 76mph. When I jump back into it I have to remeber that I don't have the cusion that exists in some other cars.
