Replacing Advice for Front Door Speakers

Dear All,

Back in a Macan after a 4 year 911 stint...

As per my last one the front speakers have gone. I'm sure many have experienced this as Macan Forums are full of speaker faults. My 'new' Macan is not under a Porsche warranty but supplier is happy to replace the speakers and I also have an option to replace with something other than the OE rubbish.

Have had a look around online. Mostly what I see is an adapter ring for 165mm units. Does anyone know if there are any options that don't use an adapter ring? Nothing against that, just want to see what options I have. My car has Bose.

I assume that it is the 8" woofer in the door that has gone, as opposed to the 4" mid-bass?

Helix do a Ci3 W200FM-2 (a 2 Ohms driver for Bose Amplifier compatibility) that is a direct replacement for the Bose Woofer.

You will also need a CFMK200 POR.1 mounting adapter to save you having to drill additional holes.

I have heard these drivers and they sound great (to me) and are quite competitively priced at about £180 for a pair (then there is the price of the mounts om top if you choose to use them)

I do not know how much a Bose speaker replacment is from Porsche but not far off the above I bet.

Hi Clinton, thanks for that info. Very helpful. I see Helix actually do speakers and fitting adaptors for the whole 3 way system.

The standard Bose Woofer is quoted at £228 from Design 911 which is a joke as it is pure junk.

Having researched a bit more and having had some very useful info from an extremely helpful US company called Musicar, I have discovered a variety of options now.

For anyone else looking there are fitting and wiring adapters from Rennspec ( https://rennspec.com/product-category/porsche-macan/ ) in the US. In the UK there are kits from SCR Distribution (https://www.scrdistribution.co.uk/porsche-speaker-kits-1978-c.asp). SCR do not list the Macan for some reason but Musicar tell me that the 992 kit uses the same fitting adapters with the exception of the midrange. That is only different in having three mounting points instead of the Macans two. You just cut that extra tab off.

For amps etc, there is something called a NavTV ZEN-V Audio Gateway(D2D) This interfaces with the PCM to give you all the same control but with a third party power amplifier.
