Due to personal circumstances we now have a place available for 1 car/2 adults if anyone is interested leaving April 12th-16th.

There is also a possibility of a small discount as the said couple are willing to share the cost of the deposit.

If your interested then first come first served...send a private message to myself Mark Grainger and I will put you in contact with the relevant couple to agree a transfer/final payments etc.

Hi Mark, Joan and I would love to join you on the Holland trip.
When I first applied for a place you explained the trip was fully booked and told me that I was on your Reserve List.

Some memories from the fantastic R7 trip to the Dutch bulb fields and Keukenhof gardens with Mark and Ann.
Day 1: Ferry to Rotterdam

The assembly prior to boarding the 'Pride of Rotterdam'

Day 2: The Louwman Collection.

The lottery of passport control in Rotterdam delayed some members and the planned stop in Delft was not possible, we headed directly to the superb Louwman Collection in the Hague to put out the welcome flags.

Our hosts kindly allowed us to park in front of the main building which holds an eclectic mix of exhibits including several Porsche related cars.

Day 2: The Tulip fields

20240413_150521.jpg

We attempted to visit the 'Tulip Barn' but that was full, so onwards to the 'Amsterdam Tulip Experience' via a roadside stop for the decorated windmill sculpture.

The 'Tulip Experience' features a museum to the Tulip industry and a beautiful exhibition area with theme displays

Day 3: Our itinerary led us to Naarden, a fortified Dutch town.

By pure luck 'Captain Flukey' a nickname we were presented with, arrived at a free Tulip display.
There were 2200 varieties, displayed by type and in alphabetical order o_O

Day 3: PM
We stopped at the mid-way Trintelhaven on the Ijsselmeer, glorious blue skies again, although much cooler than Saturday.

Then onwards through Edam to the pretty town of Volendam for some refreshments. Some steep curbing justified Mike and Ellie's decision to leave the GT4 at home

'Captain Flukey' manifests some parking places right outside the Kindedijk UNESCO World Heritage site and the Archimedes screws used to control the water level.

Wind pumps that were used to manage water levels until electric pumps took over, and then it rained!

We then drove a short distance to the Keukenhof entrance where our cars took centre stage and were drawing the crowds.

The gardens are incredible, it was very busy despite the frequent showers and chilly temperature.

We headed to the ferry to warm up and despite several road closures and heavy rain, all our group made the evening crossing back to Hull.

Thank you Mark, Ann, our fellow travellers and Scenic car tours for making this such a pleasant break, roll on Spain and Portugal.
There are still two places available if you are quick

What a brilliant write up, with great photos Peter. Many thanks for doing that it’s a really good memento of a truly fabulous trip.

Peter, what an excellent and cohesive summary of a great trip. Very many thanks for taking the photos and for constructing such a superb record. Very much appreciated.
