Please do not confuse this with any other "standard" Caymans - this car is VERY SPECIAL. Just had Hartech rebuild. I have owned it for over 3 years and in that time I have improved every element of this car to make it just about perfect.
Car is a dark, metallic grey 2007 with 65,000 miles with great bodywork but it has just had a Hartech engine rebuild and 100 miles to run it run so it is effectively delivery mileage....
Total bills to the value of over £40k for everything done to the car kept in a folder about 2 inches thick.
1. Engine: Hartech rebuild, new closed deck aluminium alloy nikosil plated cylinders, pistons, crank shaft bearing set and intermediate shaft bearing- pages of new parts.
Heads skimmed, stripped, de-coked and completely rebuilt. IMS and RMS replaced with brand new clutch. New water pump, serpentine belt and drive belts. Fabspeed racing 200 cell cat manifolds, Carnewal cat delete GT3 full stainless exhaust system (sounds incredible!). Race filter, de-snork, GT3 throttle body, IPD intake plenum, new plugs, coils, brand new baffled sump, recent rolling road set up and software for around 340bhp - this car is FAST and perfect for daily road and/or track duties. It is significantly faster than normal Caymans and I would place it above models like the Cayman R (which are a LOT more money) without hesitation.
2. Brakes: Brand new Brembo ventilated and drilled disks all round, brand new road/track pads Pagid RS29, braided brake hoses all round, upgraded fluid and GT3 brake cooling ducts,
3. Suspension: Bilstein fast road/track B12 shocks with Eiback 40mm lowering springs, upgraded bushes all round, recently set up and tracks perfectly
4: Wheels and tyres: Very dark anthracite 19" Carrera S alloys with brand new Pirelli P-Zero N rated tyres.
5. Interior: Dark leather interior with heated, electric seats, alcantara GT3 style steering wheel and gear surround, upgraded stereo with Bluetooth phone attachment and i-Play functionality, electric windows, rear wiper and aircon - everything works as it should
MOT just done so runs until October 31st 2020 - passed without problems.
The engine had signs of bore scoring before I bought it 3.5 years ago so the previous owner replaced 2 pistons and liners which was fine until about 6 months ago. Due to sub-standard work, the liners lifted and caused overheating and it needed to be rebuilt. I went straight to Hartech who are well respected in the Porsche community and, together with my local Porsche specialist, all of the above engine work was carried out. It was expensive, but if a job's worth doing....
I have bought a new 718 Cayman now so, unfortunately, I have to sell this one. If I could afford to keep both, I would keep this for fun days and track days - but I can't.
I am asking for slightly more money than other "normal" Caymans, but significantly less than I have spent and this is not a normal Cayman S. It is a fully improved, fast - and now 100% reliable - Porsche ready for daily use, track days and anything you care to throw at it. If you are looking for something more sorted/faster/better than the norm, you will not be disappointed.
I may have forgotten some small bits, but it's all here in the thick folder full of history.
