First and foremost, I do hope that you and your family and friends are safe.
I was thinking the other day how annoying it is for me to not have my GT3 at home. It would prove a nice distraction to fettle it a little or go out to the local shops to give it a run; to remind me of the days when one could have a ‘good drive’.
As you may recall, my car was ‘trapped’ at Porsche Centre Reading when they closed somewhat swiftly all those weeks ago and it was impossible to get the car before the shutters went up. I then thought of the horror hitting the world and figured that a locked-away car was not really the biggest issue at all.
I had two trackdays booked with RMA for Spa in early May and reluctantly had to pull out and re-book for September. Apart from an uncertainty on having my car back, due to the French not opening road access until the first trackday itself, the option to go via Hull was not tenable for me. Even if Belgium and the Spa circuit were to be open, I was not convinced that I could enjoy the experience with all the issues hitting us at the moment. I feel sorry for the organisers, for Spa and for the local hotel but, hopefully, I will be there in happier times in September.
I have had a few emails from members asking GT3 questions, some on trackday insurance, and some new members saying, “Hello” (welcome). If you have an interesting or humorous article or photo that you could send, then please let me have it with a view to having it selected for PP.
Lastly, I had the pleasure of being on the Club’s awards panel for the 2020 awards. It was humbling to see so many dedicated members nominated for the various awards. It is the work that they do, much of it in the background, that help makes the Club the force that it is for Porsche owners.
Keep calm, carry on and most importantly keep safe. Here is to getting back to normal as soon as possible.
