Borde Hill Gardens
On 9 July we held our annual ‘Porsches and Picnic on the Lawns’ at Borde Hill Gardens. This is always a lovely, relaxed summer event, and not an early start for a Sunday morning as we don’t have to have all the cars parked until 10am when the gardens open to the public.
This year we had 45 cars and 83 people booked for this event with a nice mixture of Porsches. The arrivals turned up on time, although, disappointingly, a few people who booked did not turn up and didn’t let me know they wouldn’t be coming.
Borde Hill Gardens is a super location for a meet
As people arrived there were a few spots of rain, but nothing to worry about and the rest of the day was warm and pleasant.
After all the cars were parked and some photos taken it was time to find a coffee at The Gardeners Retreat, and then wander round the beautiful gardens.
As lunchtime approached all the picnic chairs, tables and bags appeared out of the cars and the ‘social circle’ grew and grew as more people were ready for their picnic lunch. The rest of the afternoon was spent chatting, looking at cars and looking forward to our next driving tour.

On 31 July, 11 R23 cars departed on another adventure, this time driving the Pyrenees for 12 days. This will be R23’s fifth tour in Europe since our first in 2017, when most members had not done a driving tour before, and now several members have been on all five tours! You will hear all about the tour in next month’s report.
Our 2024 driving tour to ‘Italian Lakes and Mountains’ is now fully booked.
