November news

This month's news from your Lancashire Region

As usual, the cars and coffee event at Bridge House Farm Tea Rooms in August was very full, but inclement weather for the final meeting of 2023 in September meant numbers were a little depleted. These events will start again next spring.

Bridge House Farm Tea Rooms should be open on weekends throughout the winter, and it is a great place to drop into for coffee and cake. Please check out its Facebook page.

A number of us attended Silverstone Festival and a full report can be found elsewhere in PP.

The September breakfast meeting at Charity Farm was very busy with about 100 sports and classic cars there, and it was good to meet some new members. These breakfast meetings should carry on all through winter as the venues has good hard standing available. Great breakfasts are available and there is even a meeting on 1 January 2024. Check out its Facebook page for news on events.

Fabulous restomod 911 at Wheels up North event

On 3 September there was another Porsche 911, 60th anniversary event at Porsche Centre South Lakes. This was organised by ‘Wheels Up North’ who organise several local events. It was not an R18 or Porsche Centre South Lakes event. One had to pre-book via Wheels up North and tickets were limited, and only to 911 entrants. Some late bookers were turned away.

The start of the drive from the Mill at St Catherine’s

On 10 September we had a breakfast meeting at The Mill at St Catherine's which was followed by a drive organised by Alan Ridehalgh. We went towards the Ribble Valley, out towards The Trough of Bowland before heading back through Bilsborough and onto Inskip, to finish for lunch at The Ribble Pilot on Preston Quays. We avoided all the heavy rain and traffic hold ups on the A6 and at Bilsborough, as we headed past them going in the other direction. Thanks to Alan for again organising a great day.

A regroup stop at Stoneyhurst College on the drive from The Mill

On 12 September Porsche Centre Preston hosted a 6oth anniversary of the 911 celebration event which was fully subscribed, and an enjoyable night was had by all.

I was on holiday for the breakfast meeting at Jasmine Porschalink, but I understand it was very busy as usual. This was the last event there in 2023.

Rather nice Targa at Mitton Hall

On 24 September, Mitton Hall held one of its Supercar Sunday breakfast meetings. Despite the threats of heavy rain, a reasonable turnout of supercars arrived.

Looking forwards toward Christmas please let me know if you would like a Christmas lunch, or dinner, or even a lunch between Christmas and the New Year. I have a number of possible venues to look at.

Welcome new members Karen and Tom Wilkinson, Westley Connor, Maryin Lyndsey-Smith, Michael Chambers, Mohammed Saleem, Stuart Thompson, Joe Davidson, Alastair and Tracey Christopherson. We look forward to meeting you at some of our events.
