Trawden Run - Report

Trawden Run Success

Trawden Drive for R18 with other joining for the meal

Several Porsche left the meeting place at Bamber Bridge (BB) on a day that earlier in the week the Met Office prediction was for rain all day; were they wrong! We set off on dry roads and glorious sunshine. Leaving BB, we drove towards Hoghton Tower, then on to Salmesbury, Ribchester and our first stop at Bashall Barn for coffee just after 11 o’clock. After a 70 minute drive, the scones which were made just before we arrived and coffee were well received. Looking out of the lounge window at Bashall Barn, there was a fantastic view all the way down the valley with Longridge Fell on our right.

Leaving Bashall Barn we went through Waddington, Chatburn and Rimmington before taking to some minor roads where even walkers would have to move onto the grass! These all had great surfaces probably the best in the England. Going down Stopper Lane and Whytha Road which is where we negotiated 5 gates across the road before getting to the A682. After crossing the A682, on Stocks Lane towards Barnoldswick, we stopped to admire the view. Looking north we could clearly see Ingleborough, one of the three peeks, which is some 25 miles away. The scenery was just as good going through Trawden, past Widdop reservoir and on to Nino’s at The Fighting Cocks for lunch: what a great day.

Thanks go to Jo and Alan Diamond for organising another great event!!
