28 January POTM at The Boars, Spooner Row
It was a good turnout for the first event of 2018, with 31 members enjoying lunch at this new venue for the Club. We were given a room just for us and, as we had all pre-ordered lunch, we were served very quickly and efficiently by the staff. It was good to catch up with friends we hadn’t seen for a while and several had travelled quite a distance to join us. We lingered over teas and coffees with the last of us leaving around 4pm. On a bright, sunny Sunday we even drove home with the top down!
18 February POTM at Hintlesham Hall, Suffolk
We seem to be blessed with good weather for our Sunday lunches and, once again, we enjoyed a sunny drive to Hintlesham Hall where Alan and Yvonne had arranged for 34 of us to have lunch at this lovely venue. We had a private dining room and were greeted with log fires and canopies on arrival. Lunch followed and the food and service were first class. A warm welcome to Nick and Julie who joined us for their first PCGB event. Our thanks to Yvonne and Alan for their excellent organisation.
20 February Club night
At our first Club night of the year, we were pleased to welcome James Martin from Magnitude Events who gave us an insight into his locally based company that offers trackdays and European tours. James discussed his love of cars which had seen him working with a Porsche specialist before becoming involved with Magnitude a year ago. They also run classic and ‘retro’ trackdays at Blyton Park near Doncaster for pre-1995 cars at the cost of £199 including food, drink and photography. Magnitude can also provide track-prepared cars for people who would rather not take their own vehicles on the track. All their events can be seen at magnitude-events.co.uk
Tony then updated members on forthcoming events. A warm welcome to new members Trevor and Angela, Melvyn, Andrew and Louise, and to James and Miranda who are not yet members but we hope they will decide to join us in the not too distant future.
