January news

This month's news from your Cambridgeshire & Bedfordshire Region

Regional round-up
We had a fantastic turnout - 20 members - for November's Zoom Club night when we had a packed programme for everyone to enjoy. It was the first time that I have handed over three R24 stickers to lucky members who have just got new Porsches.

Rona and Tom O'Connor have taken delivery of a 2018 Dolomite Silver two-litre Macan - just the car for getting out and about in the Cotswolds.

Phillip Potts is now enjoying a 911 Turbo Tiptronic Coupe that has replaced his much loved 996 C4S.

And, finally, Wayne Helme has added a new Guards Red 718 Cayman GT4 to his family’s collection and he is looking forward to attending a track day with this incredible car.

November’s guest speaker
Our first guest speaker of our winter programme was David Hamer, Senior Vice President of Lockton Insurance. He gave us an entertaining, informative, and surprising insight into the world of car insurance. His company also looks after several other high-profile owner’s car clubs and he spoke with authority and confidence regarding what their cover, its features, and benefits, gives for Porsche Club members.

Thank you, David, for your time and interesting presentation.

Quiz time
This month’s quiz was based on general knowledge so there were lots of different topics to test our member’s knowledge. The eventual winners were Alan and Lesley Chambers – the second time they have been successful so many congratulations to them.

FORTHCOMING EVENTS

The R24 committee will be putting together a provisional programme of events for 2021 but, at present, we cannot confirm anything except to say we will do our best for members given any restrictions that might be in place.

2021 WOTY
All being well, this will go ahead, and we look forward to visiting the Isle of Wight next June. If you would like to join us, please contact our agent Scenic Car Tours direct to make your booking.

Treasure hunt
This event will hopefully take place sooner rather than later and will incorporate a route around our area with clues to solve along the way. All this can be done from your car to reduce, as far as possible, contact with the public and each other. Once health restrictions have been eased, I will be able to formulate the balance of the event and have the risk assessment approved by the Club.

Club online
This website is great to visit for online events, to catch up with what is happening within your Porsche’s Register, and the Forum covering many topics. Also visit the Club Shop for all those special gifts.

Finally, may I take this opportunity to wish you and all your family season’s greetings. We all look forward to when we can get out in our cars and meet up and be an actual Porsche family again instead of a virtual one. 2021 has got to be a better year than this one!

Stay Safe
