Porsche o'er t'wolds

After documentation, a free breakfast and the drivers' briefing, which will take place at 09:15, the first car will leave the campus at 10:01 followed by the rest of the cars at up to two minute intervals.  (This is to try to prevent bunching along the route, although some is inevitable.)  Cars will then drive past the Lincoln Showground and RAF Scampton along some of the smoother roads in and around the Wolds.  Before arriving at the finish at the Petwood Hotel in Woodhall Spa, crews will have passed a number of active and former RAF stations, a meteorology radar site, the highest point of Lincolnshire and the last remaining Chain Home High aerial, still in use today by the RAF to train its current breed of aerial erectors.  All roads are metalled, some are very narrow with passing places and some have small lumps of grass down the middle!  This year there are no fords, although after last year I cannot rule out minor flooding, and no gated roads.  However, there could be mobile road blocks in the guise of tractors and other farm vehicles who may, or may not, move over for you.  Please be patient - remember that Lincolnshire produces 40% of the food we eat and farmers do not work a five day week!

For those worried about petrol consumption, there are two filling stations along the route.  These will be marked in the Road Book.

The finish will be at the Petwood Hotel in Woodhall Spa (former WWII RAF Officers' Mess for Nos 95, 617 (aka 'The Junior Squadron') and 619 Squadrons) where an optional buffet meal will be available for those who wish to partake starting at 1600.  The cost of this is extra and currently being negotiated, but will be between £15.00 and £20.00.  There will be a cash bar available also.  It has been agreed that all cars will be parked on the croquet lawn to the side of the hotel which should produce a great deal of interest.  Woodhall Spa is, as last year, holding a 1940's weekend and there will bve many people milling around both town and hotel gardens.  Should you wish to dress appropriately, please feel free to do so.  The hotel management has asked that we clear the dining area by 1800.

The route has been planned on 1:50000 OS maps 112,113,121,122 for those navigators who like reading maps.  However, all crews will be given a professionally printed and illustrated Tulip-style Road Book with all required information to complete the tour.  As the event is a 'Touring Assembly' as defined in the 2015 MSA Year Book (Section B, Nomenclature, pp 61-62), the RACMSA and the local Route Liaison Officer will have been notified and the Certificate of Exemption applied for.

The event is open to all models of Porsche and we look forward to entrants from all regions.  As 2015 is the 50th Anniversary of the first 912 production, priority for acceptance, should we exceed our limit of 40 crews, will be R4 members and 912 Register owners.  (Those of you who own a 912 and are not on the Register list, sign up now...)

Entries are now open and will close on 5 July 2015 for those who wish to eat at Petwood Hotel and 12 July for those who just wish to drive the route.
