We recently had our first organised evening event (beer and Thai food), which we inadvertently scheduled at the same time as the opening ceremony for the International Island Games, which was being hosted by Guernsey for the first time since 2003. This meant that the town centre of St Peter Port was extremely busy, as crowds lined the streets to welcome nearly 2,500 athletes who had travelled over from 22 small island nations.
