Retirement of Porsche Club GB Chair

It is with regret we announce Richard Watling has resigned from the Board

It is with sadness and regret that we advise you that Richard Watling retired from the Board of Porsche Club Great Britain yesterday and gave up his executive duties as Chairman and Commercial Director with immediate effect.

The Vice Chair Nick Taylor will take over as Chair pending the election of a new Chair at the next Board meeting.

Richard chose to retire earlier than planned for personal reasons and his experience, work ethic, integrity and friendship will be greatly missed.

His very long association with Porsche dates to his time developing Rothmans Sponsorship of the domineering 956 and 962 endurance racing cars in the 1980s. He’s been an active PCGB volunteer for 17 years and since 2013 has been responsible for the Club’s highly successful commercial partnerships. In total, he has served on our Board for seven years and has been an Honorary Member since 2018.

But he is perhaps best known to many members as both chief engineer and team principal for our tremendously popular Factory Visit program, the last one being in September last year. He has arranged 33 in total and whilst regrettably, his resignation means we cannot progress our planned visit to Stuttgart in April, we certainly hope September’s can go ahead and that aspect of his legacy will long endure.

We all owe Richard a debt of gratitude for his long service and look forward to seeing him at Club events in future.

In the meantime we wish he and Sarah a long, happy and healthy retirement.
