Porsche Club partners with Air Ambulances UK

Air Ambulances UK and Porsche Club Great Britain are proud to announce a fantastic new charity partnership

Our brand new charity partnership with Air Ambulances UK, the national charity that champions, supports and represents the vital work of air ambulance charities right across the country, provides PCGB and its members with a great opportunity to find out more about their lifesaving services while also offering exciting ways to get involved and raise funds to help them save more lives.

Air ambulances form part of our frontline emergency services and collectively make around 80 lifesaving missions every day, rapidly delivering advanced pre-hospital critical care to people with a sudden life-threatening injury or illness. Around 70% of lifesaving missions are to people who are critically injured and about 30% are to those with a sudden illness.

Every air ambulance deployment costs around £3,000 and each one is almost entirely funded by generous donations. That’s why every penny matters and why air ambulance charities need your support to continue to provide their vital lifesaving services. Some of the lifesaving mission equipment that PCGB and its members can help to fund includes open heart surgery packs, ventilators, defibrillator devices, blood transfusion equipment and flight helmets and suits.

With your generous support, air ambulance charities can help to save even more people like Andy Bord from Bushy, who was taking a shower when he blacked out, fell and sustained a serious head injury.

Andy’s wife Emma said: “The air ambulance team quickly began treating Andy and gave him a pre-hospital anaesthetic in order to take over his breathing to help reduce his brain injury and prevent, as best as possible, any further harm. Once stabilised, he was airlifted to a specialist hospital, The Royal London, which only took six minutes in the helicopter.

Emma continues: “Unbelievably, Andy has made an amazing recovery and I am so thankful to Essex and Herts Air Ambulance for saving my husband’s life. The doctors on the helicopter, the speed of their work and the decisions they made were simply amazing.”

CEO of Air Ambulances UK Simmy Akhtar says: “We are really proud to be working in partnership with PCGB and incredibly grateful to members of the club for your support in raising funds to help ensure more people can benefit from the advanced lifesaving pre-hospital care that air ambulance charities are providing every day across the UK.”

Essex and Herts Air Ambulance is just one of the 21 air ambulance charities that PCGB members will be supporting across the UK through this new partnership.
