Back in 2013, Porsche Club GB appointed Lockton Performance to create and implement a motor insurance scheme, providing Club members with a quality insurance product at a competitive premium.
In April that year, we launched the PCGB Members Motor Insurance Scheme at the Officials’ Conference at Chateau Impney, Worcestershire. There were a few sceptics in the audience, but I was confident our scheme would do well. We had successfully implemented similar schemes for other car clubs, and we had the experience to make it work.
The numbers tell the story: in six years, we have attracted more than 3,500 members to the scheme, who in total insure 4,000 vehicles with us. On average, 50 new customers each month take out their motor insurance under the Lockton Performance scheme.
So why do members choose to buy their motor insurance with us? It’s simple: an excellent product and exceptional service, delivered at a competitive premium. Clearly, the premium you pay is important but so is the scope of the policy cover and, perhaps most importantly, how we handle claims.
To continue this success we have undertaken a major review of your scheme and have made a number of improvements, including…
• Comprehensive cover for you and your spouse to drive any car not owned by you. Most policies only provide third party liability insurance protection, so if you have an accident driving a friend’s car
no cover is in place for the damage – not only embarrassing but potentially costly.
• Anyone over 35 can drive your car, and you are in control of who drives it. Most policies require you to name the people who are going to drive your car, which can be particularly inconvenient if it is a spur-of-the-moment decision. Under-35s can be insured on a named and approved basis.
• Even if you own several cars, our policy will still provide you with a courtesy car if your car suffers damage in an accident and is undriveable, irrespective of who caused the accident.
• Club-organised trackdays and non-competitive road rallies are great ways to enjoy your Porsche, but most motor insurers exclude all cover when you are on a track. Our scheme will include damage to your vehicle, subject to you paying the first 10 per cent of its value. We even provide third party liability cover of £2 million for injury or damage. • We will replace your car if it’s written off or stolen within 24 months of the date of purchase, removing the risk of receiving a cash settlement insufficient to replace your car.
Our improved scheme is now covered by AXA XL, a global insurance company which will insure the PCGB car insurance scheme moving forward. All these improvements are subject to your individual circumstances and us underwriting the information you provide. However, I am confident that these extensions and improvements will be available to the majority of PCGB members who insure under the Lockton Performance scheme.
We all know that the amount of premium you pay is an important factor in deciding where you buy your car insurance, so I’m delighted to announce that we have negotiated a premium freeze for our existing customers. This means that if your policy renews after 7 December 2019, we will renew it at the same premium you paid at your last renewal (there is no change to the original underwriting information).
