Autosport International 2018

Under way and busier than ever at the UK’s biggest indoor motorsport event.

Day one of the 2018 Autosport International at the NEC in Birmingham has been typically hectic. A prominent position in the Performance Car hall and a show stealer in the guise of the 2017 Le Mans-winning Porsche 919 Hybrid have already drawn a sizeable crowd to the Club’s stand.

Alongside the 919 is a gallery of other championship-winning machinery, including Paul Howell’s Hill Climb-winning 1973 RSR, Mark McAleer’s 996 and the time-warp 924 that took a record-making World Championship class win in 1979 in the hands of Win Percy and Juliette Slaughter.

Beyond the Club stand our friends at Porsche GB are enjoying another successful show, with the 691bhp 911 GT2 RS that smashed the Nordschleife lap record last year on prominent display alongside the latest 911 Carrera Cup car.

Meanwhile, the Club’s own 356 is also enjoying pride of place on the Pirelli stand, and there are independent Porsche cameos in all four corners, including British Supercup privateer Tom Sharpe’s 2017 GT3 and a small army of subtly (and not so subtly) modified 911s and Caymans.

We’ve seen lots of familiar faces on the stand today and welcomed a number of new members to the Club already. If you’re interested in making the leap into grass roots motorsport, or even just want to know more about trackday opportunities for you and your Porsche, our team are on hand to help all weekend. The show runs from 9am to 6pm, so come and find us in Hall 1 for a complimentary coffee and a chat.
