£3.2 million worth of classics sold at Silverstone’s May Sale

70% of cars sold at Auctioneers return to Silverstone.

On its return to Silverstone circuit for the May Sale on Friday, 20th May, Silverstone Auctions sold 70% of the best of breed classics on offer, for a total sales value of £3.2million.

As part of the sale a very desirable 1974 Carrera 2.7 MFI with just 26,000 miles from new sold for £127,174. Another strong seller was a 2004 996 GT3 RS which reached £148,500.

Speaking just after the auction, Nick Whale, managing director of Silverstone Auctions, was pleased to report on another successful sale: “We’re delighted to return great prices to our vendors in our first sale of the year at Silverstone race circuit. Once again, I believe we put together a fantastic catalogue with a wide selection of high pedigree classics.”

Silverstone Auctions’ next sale takes place at the Classic Race Aarhus in Denmark this weekend, Saturday, 28th and Sunday, 29th May. Nearly 100 cars will be going under the hammer at the prestigious motorsport festival.

Silverstone Auctions return to the UK for three days’ of sales at the Silverstone Classic on 28th to 31st July. Entries are now being invited into these sales so those looking to sell a classic car with the support and expertise of Silverstone Auctions are encouraged to get in touch soon.
