Silverstone Auctions have consigned both the first and last of the 50 RHD built ‘Flatnose’ Porsche 930 Turbo SEs, which will be appearing in The Porsche Sale on Sunday October 25th.
At its launch, the ‘Flachbau’ as it was named by the factory, was billed as the ultimate 930 Turbo, featuring a 330 hp engine and an upgraded body modelled after the 935 race car. The SE ‘Flatnose’ was a fully bespoke, hand-built option for the 1980's Porsche buyer and was over twice as expensive as a standard 930 Turbo when new.
Only 50 of these variants were built as RHD models for the UK and Silverstone Auctions are in the unique position of being able to offer the first and last of these cars produced by the Stuttgart factory.
The first ‘Flatnose’ to go under the hammer (pictured above) is none other than the Porsche GB press car used for the model’s launch under the registration ‘911 HUL’. As such it was the first model to arrive in the UK and features a number of superb factory options, including the extremely rare Recaro Ideal ‘C’ seats and a full Can-Can Red leather interior.
Finished in Silver Metallic, this very special car is a blue-chip icon of its era and represents an exciting opportunity for any lover of the Porsche marque, with an estimate of £150,000 - £170,000.
The second ‘Flatnose’, (pictured above) is just as special, as it is believed to be the last of the 50 50 RHD cars that were manufactured. In addition, this particular car was modified even further by a previous owner who entrusted the car to the legendary Ruf Automobile GmbH. in Pfaffenhausen who increased the output by an additional 120 hp.
The Porsche Sale takes place inside the Silverstone Wing over the weekend of Saturday, 24th and Sunday, 25th October. The sale, which is being staged in conjunction with the Club’s Silverstone Grand Prix circuit trackday, is expected to attract some of the finest Porsches in the country.
