Josh Webster to race in Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland round 10

Reigning Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion Josh Webster will travel to the Red Bull Ring to compete in the next round of Carrera Cup Deutschland.

Reigning Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion Josh Webster will travel to the Red Bull Ring on 31 July - 2 August to compete in the next round of Carrera Cup Deutschland with KÜS Team75 Bernhard. The 21-year-old will replace the injured Pepe Massot at the wheel of the #18 Porsche, providing Webster with an opportunity to learn from team advisor and Porsche LMP1 factory driver Timo Bernhard.

In his first year racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, the Englishman broke multiple records on his way to becoming the youngest ever winner of the Championship and the first Porsche Scholar to win the title in their inaugural season. He was on the podium in all 19 races in 2014 and with one victory and five podiums to his name, he currently sits second in this year’s standings.

Despite some early-season frustration, KÜS Team75 Bernhard is currently running well in Carrera Cup GB Deutschland. The team scored a third place at the Lausitzring, followed by a double victory at the Norisring and another podium at the last race in Zandvoort, meaning the Stowmarket-based driver will be joining a squad full of confidence.

"Josh got in touch a while ago and is interested in working with us," said Porsche LMP1 star Timo Bernhard. “When it turned out that Pepe had to take a break, it was a no brainer for us to work with him. Josh knows the cup and the cars and we are very happy to have found somebody like him who has experience and some remarkable results under his belt at such a young age. He has never been to the Red Bull Ring before so he will be using this race weekend purely to learn as much as possible.

"It's all about gaining experience," Webster commented. "I don't have any expectations regarding pace as I’ve never been to the circuit before but I am tremendously excited about the opportunity of working with Team75 Bernhard and driving alongside Nicki Thiim."
