Donington awaits Porsche racers

Donington Park hosts round five and six of the 2015 Fuel Protect Porsche Club Championship with Pirelli on Saturday July 11th.

Donington Park hosts round five and six of the 2015 Fuel Protect Porsche Club Championship with Pirelli on Saturday July 11th, with reigning champion Pete Morris heading the points table and determined to extend his lead in front of the Motors TV live cameras. So far the series has produced four great races this season, and if the action is that good on Saturday then the spectators at the circuit and the live TV audience are in for a treat.

Morris shared the wins at the opening round with Mark McAleer, and then with Craig Wilkins at Silverstone last month, with every race to date being won by a 996 C2. Morris and Wilkins are sparring partners of old and have shared drives before so enjoy racing each other, while former champion McAleer was never more than yards from Morris at Brands Hatch in both races in what was a close but fair contest.

Paul Winter and Mike Johnson have also put their 996s on the podium this season, both drivers returning the series this year, while variety in model in the top three has come from the Boxster S of Gary Duckman. Duckman was a race winner in the series before leaving and being successful elsewhere, and his return to the series at Silverstone saw him take pole in qualifying and be immediately on the pace at the front.

The Class Two action has seen two double winners so far, with Tim Speed taking both wins in the season openers at Brands Hatch in his 968 CS, while Jonathan Evans took his maiden class wins at Silverstone in his Boxster S. Those wins see Evans heading the class points, David Botterill second with his 964 C2 after some consistent runs, the series regular having run in Class One in recent seasons.

Qualifying is at 09.15 on Saturday morning, with the first of the two 25-minute races at 12.50, with the second at 17.25. Race two will be live on Motors TV.
