How to give your Porsche the very best insurance

Insurance tips and advice from Lockton.

Insurance tips and advice from Lockton.

We know your enthusiasm for the cars you drive, collect and restore.  We recognise that your Porsche is the expression of many of your dreams.  This is why with the PCGB Insurance Scheme we've endeavoured to create the best owners’ club scheme in the UK.

It starts with our attitude to claims
The moment of truth for any insurance is when you make a claim.   You want to feel in control.  To know that if it is a repair, your treasured Porsche will be carefully restored to its condition before the claim.  Or, sadly, if it is a write-off, that you will be paid the full sum on the policy – and not a penny less.

Unfortunately, most policies insure you on a ‘perils’ basis.  You’re only covered for the circumstances stated in the policy – ‘the specified perils’ – everything else is excluded.    What’s covered and what’s not, can be the cause of real heartache and haggling when you make a claim. But, by then it’s too late!

With the PCGB Scheme it’s almost exactly the reverse.  The Scheme insures you on an ‘all-risks’ basis.   Unless something is specifically excluded, you’re covered.   This means the cover you get is wider, fairer and more transparent, and there are no nasty surprises when you make a claim.

It’s underpinned by real choice
Do you have a garage that you trust to do all the work on your Porsche?

If you have an accident, most insurers will insist – often via a series of disincentives – that you use one of their approved (cheaper) garages instead.

The PCGB Scheme doesn’t dictate to you.  It lets you use the garage of your choice. Unlike others, we don’t make deductions for wear and tear on replacement parts – such as tyres.  And our only stipulation is that wherever possible genuine manufacturer parts are used.

For a write-off, if you have opted for Agreed Value, the Scheme pays you the full sum insured in the policy without any deduction for excess.  You then have the choice of using the money to buy a like-for-like replacement or something completely different.   Most others, whatever the policy states, are likely to pay you a depreciated ‘market value’ and then deduct an excess – leaving you out-of-pocket.

It adds up to superb value
It’s unwise to pay too much, but it’s equally unwise to pay too little.  The PCGB Scheme may cost a little more than the cheapest – although far less than you might think – but its specialist cover and service is renowned as exceptional.  And, remember, with insurance – as with most things – there’s nothing that can’t be made a little worse, in order to sell it a little more cheaply!

Why not give your Porsche the best. Rather than just renewing with your existing insurer ask for a quote from the Club Scheme by calling Lockton on 0845 602 9420.
