Introducing Nick Whale

Ahead of The Porsche Sale this October, Silverstone Auctions’ Nick Whale discusses his passion for Porsche.

Ahead of The Porsche Sale taking place this October, Nick Whale, Managing Director, Silverstone Auctions discusses Porsche’s successful year to date and his passion for the Marque.

First of all – a very warm welcome to my new, monthly column – it’s a pleasure to be working with Porsche Club GB, both as an auction partner in my role with Silverstone Auctions and as a Porsche enthusiast myself.

2015 has been a fantastic year so far for Porsche – winning the Le Mans 24-Hour race and the launch of the highly acclaimed 991 911 GT3 RS and Cayman GT4 are just a few examples, but it’s also been a great year for classic car values, and with over 25 years of experience as a main dealer (Porsche Centre Solihull and Leicester) and most recently through Silverstone Auctions - I can honestly say that I have never been more excited to sell these cars than I am today.

It gives me great pleasure to introduce Silverstone Auctions’ first-ever single-marque sale in conjunction with Porsche Club GB. The Porsche sale, which takes place at The Wing, Silverstone circuit on the 25th October is definitely a date for your diary.

We are expecting an influx of high-quality enthusiast-owned cars, which are low-mileage and meticulously maintained-examples of which are rarely seen on the open market. We will be running a track day at the Silverstone track on the same day, too - the Porsche Sale will be an auction to remember.

To celebrate the partnership with the club the team and I are delighted to offer members free consignments for the sale - a saving of over £300. Porsche Club GB members also are able to view and enter the sale with discounted rate catalogue.

Buying and selling a car at auction compared with buying and selling through a main dealer, in my experience, isn’t as different as people imagine it to be. As a rule, I won’t consign a car to an auction that I wouldn’t feel confident buying myself. Our recent record-breaking sales are testament to our credentials but also to the recent surge of the popularity and demand of classic cars in the current market.

Porsches of all shapes, sizes, budgets and eras have been proudly sold by our team at Silverstone Auctions, from a 1973 2.7RS Touring, to a 1981 924 Carrera GT (due to be sold at our Silverstone Classic Sale), a 2010 997 GT2 RS and lots more besides. We are proud and honoured to be your auction partner and look forward to seeing you at the sale.

If you have any questions with regards to current or future sales, or want to talk through your specific buying or selling requirements please do not hesitate to contact our auction team, either via telephone +44 (0) 1926 691 141 or email enquiries@silverstoneauctions.com
