Arguably the biggest prize in UK motorsport, the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholarship will give one lucky driver the incredible opportunity to be part of the UK’s fastest one-make series and build a career as a professional sports car racer with one of the world’s most illustrious marques.

The Carrera Cup GB Scholarship winner will receive £80,000 per year towards their 2016 and 2017 Porsche Carrera Cup GB budgets, bespoke training plans with the Porsche Human Performance Centre at Silverstone, world-class media training and priceless exposure to the international Porsche Motorsport family.

The selected driver will follow in the footsteps of current scholar Josh Webster, who broke multiple records on his way to becoming the youngest ever Carrera Cup GB Champion and the first Porsche Scholar to win the title in their inaugural season. He was on the podium in all 19 races in 2014, and with one victory and five podiums to his name so far he currently sits second in this year’s standings.

To enter the Scholarship, drivers must be aged between 18 and 22 on 1 January 2016, possess a National A licence, have raced in a national or international entry level sports car or single-seater series and have not previously registered as a competitor in the Carrera Cup GB.

“The Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholarship has enabled me to take the first step towards a professional career in GT racing,” commented 21-year old Webster (Stowmarket). “The exposure from the Scholarship has opened doors for me and I’m really grateful for this fantastic opportunity.

“Being part of the Porsche family is very special and I’ve been lucky enough to gain some brilliant experience in and out of the car. In addition to the racing calendar, I’ve been able to appear at other high-profile networking events and work with some fantastic people. It really has brought me so many different things that I didn’t expect when I won.”

Porsche UK Motorsport Manager James MacNaughton added: “The Carrera Cup GB Scholarship is an important part of the Porsche commitment to motorsport. We want to find and nurture the best UK racing talent and we’ve got a strong track record of doing that. For a young, ambitious driver, how much more special can it get than representing the Porsche Motorsport brand and racing in the highly competitive Carrera Cup GB Championship. ”

Applications close on 4 September 2015 with four finalists selected for evaluation at the Porsche Experience Centre at Silverstone later that month. The 2016 Carrera Cup GB Scholar will be announced in early November 2015 at the end-of-season awards.

Any driver wishing to apply for the 2016/2017 Carrera Cup GB Scholarship Programme should visit porsche.co.uk/scholarship to complete and submit an application form.
