Now for sale £20,000.

Seems ambitious to me. Not saying that I have a problem with that, just that I'm not convinced there is much of a market for a £20k S2 right now. I think mid teens might be more realistic if you actually want to sell it anytime soon.

Let us know how you get on. Would be interested to know how the market sees it.

 
I thought this 944 was for keeps as I read in an early Forum posting to John Dunn

so why the change of heart or are you just after another project to get your hands

into and win your class at the National Concours in 2017.

Ps If I was in the market to replace my car I would be interested in your lovely 944

and I'm sure it will Sale fast as it clearly is a lovely and an extremely clean Classic Porsche

now I think most know that I'm all for putting a good value on these cars and if I ever sold mine I wouldn't consider anything less than £20k which I see as the top price for a Turbo...for a good S2 I would expect around half that, or am I out of touch??

Due to the amount of work/money you've sunk into your car I don't blame you, and I'd say it's worth £20k to an enthusiast. But the top of the 944 market seems to be driven by investor buyers that look at how many miles the car has done first followed by how shiny it is underneath. A very small number of cars seem to have sold for around £20k, and now some owner/sellers seem think all 944's have gone up £10k in the last year. I reckon that ship was docked for a very short time and now it's sailed.

 
Good luck OP, stick up 40 pictures and a wordy advert and knock a grand a week off until it sells.

I would agree with that assessment Paul...however, I would expect there to be more enthusiasts interested in our cars than any potential investors. Mileage will be viewed differently between the two groups, investors want low mileage in the hope that this will help resale value when they choose to sell. Enthusiasts see it as a guide to how much work may need doing on the car when bought and in truth, the only thing that really concerns them is engine maintenance, all other aspects are easily sorted if the need arises, note I'm ignoring any possible corrosion issues . Yes I have put a lot of money and effort into my own car, none of this was for resale value,though, I love the model and as of yet haven't seen anything to match it, yet alone beat the 944 (all models) for driver experience. If I was to move on from 944 ownership which as I get older and health has a say in such matters is a real possibility for the future, both my wife and I struggle getting in and out of the car these days. If this did happen someone would not only be getting a seriously well-sorted 951 but they would be getting a car with less mileage on it's engine than perhaps any other 944T out there,an engine that is the original with matching numbers for the V5... that on it's own should command top dollar...IMHO of course...:)

Full respray in original colour Turquoise blue LM5M/LM5M PAINT CODE , refurbished wheels, calipers New Porsche mats , wheel centres lots of others bits. Full service including plugs , distributor cap and leads, rotor arm camshaft timing belt and balance shaft belt ,timing belt tensioner roller new wheel bearing, new rear handbrake shoes new discs and brake pads all round , 2 rear tyres , new boot seal and lots and lots of cleaning :ROFLMAO:.

Also have Certificate of Authenticity.

 
None of us are getting any younger Pete and speaking personally the motivation to spend days pulling out, rebuilding, and refitting an engine plus chucking £5-10k into it I'd never see again makes little sense now. A standard M3 or TT-RS for example would be a lot newer and quicker than most 944 turbos.

same here Paul...I'm too old to do another rebuild or to be honest, most work that involves getting under the car these days, luckily I have my son's for that but they have their own lives to lead. For now, I'm just happy pootling along with the odd heavy right foot when someone else on the road thinks they have a fast car...:) In general, though, I drive as my wife put's it, 'like an old man' enjoying that lovely burble that makes people's heads turn as I approach. Much more fun that risking 'life in the fast lane'

 
View mine on piston heads i honestly dont think you will get near that figure my car is identical to yours they were both at silverstone and to be honest they looked as though they had just come of the assembly line .Good luck but remember the first bid you get may be the last

Wow, that looks amazing, how did you get the rear suspension components like that without removing them? Also what exhaust system is that? Thanks

Hi Paul , wire wool and a dremmel with a wire brush fitting , not sure what exhaust system is fitted sorry.

good 944's are undervalued IMO

Carefully selected they'd been great buys for many years. In the last year or so I've noticed some great looking cars sitting unsold for months at £15-20k. With the odd exception I reckon there's still more cars than buyers at that money. New interest wants very low mileage, old interest wont pay that money.

 
There are not many low milage cars about, with the prices they have been in the past there are many cars out there not been looked after correctly or modified.

If there is a nice one anyone is looking to sell my dad is after a 944 or 968.

 
Well I tried mine at £11k and didn't get a sniff of interest. Dropped it to £10k and still not even an enquiry. That's for a comprehensively restored car with replacement sills, wings, full respray and many (most) mechanical parts replaced. Mileage is 126k so probably too high for the collectors but in reality totally irrelevant because there are only a handful of parts left on the car that have seen 126k miles. Funny old thing the market.
