Visit to RAF WaddingtonMember event

I am delighted to confirm that we have secured an opportunity to visit the home of the heroic Dambuster squadrons who flew numerous sorties during WW2.

We will meet for coffee at the nearby Hive Café before passing through security to visit the museum at the Officers Mess. Apart from viewing numerous wartime artifacts, records and memorabilia, we will be give a talk on the history of the site and its importance to UK Defence.

Thereafter, a drive to lunch at The Dambusters Inn at Scampton which holds a vast array of Dambuster memorabilia and where landlord Greg Algar will give a brief talk to enlighten us about the significant role that RAF Scampton (now closed) played alongside RAF Waddington, particularly during those daring raids on German reservoirs where the famous bouncing bombs were deployed.

A short walk then to the local church to view recently installed commemorative stained glass windows and the graves of both young English and German soldiers, all who died far too soon.
