An early Sunday morning dawn raid saw six Macans venture out to take a 35-mile circular drive through the Forest of Bowland on some great undulating single-track roads. A later start for the main group took in a winding route to Gisburn Forest for coffee where the whole group got caught in a deluge as we returned to our cars.
The official end of the weekend concluded with lunch at Gibbons Bridge where departing couples were conveniently close to the M6 for their Sunday afternoon trudge home, whilst others headed back to base for an extra night’s stopover. We were delighted to welcome six new couples to this event and, with some strategic seating arrangements at dinner each evening, their integration into this friendly group was assured.
Sincere thanks go to Robert and Mary Lane, who painstakingly, over several recces to the area, provided excellent routes ideal for enjoying our Macans - even in the most adverse weather conditions. Fortunately, the fuel issues weren’t the problem locally as most had experienced in the south.
The next WOTY is to North Wales at the end of March 2022 – all places are taken but there;s a reserve list.
