MEMBER FOCUS This month we meet club-member Craig Sharp, an active, passionate Cayenne driver. What do you drive? I daily-drive a 2017 958 Cayenne S 4.2D V8. I smile every time I turn the key! This is year-three of ownership having bought the car from Porsche Bournemouth. I hear you did a factory tour; tell us more! When I took the leap into Porsche ownership (which has been a dream for a very long-time), I wanted to embrace the experience, so a trip to Stuttgart was always on the cards. As a family we did this within the first year! Craig’s trip included a visit to the Nürburgring for his son’s 18th birthday The trip coincided with my son’s 18th - he wanted to go to the Nürburgring. It was the afternoon of the well-known crash involving a GT3 RS and BMW. We were advised not to drive, so he went for a taxi-lap with a pro-driver. He was buzzing for days. Craig Sharp’s 2017 958 Cayenne S at the factory in Leipzig We extended the trip to the factory in Leipzig where my car was born. The Carrera lunch and the factory tour were both excellent. What’s the best thing you’ve done in your Cayenne (keep it clean!)? A lot! We’ve put over 45k miles on it already. Putting aside the Germany trips, I love Brands Hatch, having been brought up in Kent and going to watch events as a kid. It was great to take the car around the track as part of the 75 years of Porsche parade. What next? What do you think about the Cayenne EV? I’ve often thought about a newer model but the torque and feel of mine’s hard to beat. Cayenne EV? Depreciation and lack of infrastructure provide a tough decision, as does lack of feel & noise with an EV. It’ll be interesting times for sure! PLEASE BE SOCIAL!
