The final 992 Register event of the 2024 Summer was arranged for 27th – 29th September with our WOTY in the charming Devon countryside. The Register took all 22 rooms of the Commodore Hotel at Instow for an eclectic mix of a pleasant weekend away in the company of like-minded members, with an appreciation of the southwest countryside in autumn, a social occasion and above all tremendous driving.
The Saturday morning run took us from Instow via Crediton, Winkleigh, Ashreigney, Torrington, Bideford to the Hartland Quay Hotel, for a welcome lunch break. After lunch our tour continued south along Marine Drive and Widemouth Bay to Jacobstow, Trossell Cottages before heading north to Red Post, Holsworthy Torrington back to the Commodore for the welcome option of a Cream Tea.
A gala dinner provided delicious food together with some very joyous conversations including a Quiz, with questions based on ‘Porsche’, ‘The 992’ and ‘Devon’ and was won by Malcolm Maslin. Sunday morning took another scenic route to the North Devon coast passing through Barnstable, Rigshark and Whitestone Post to our arranged lunch venue of Raleighs Cross Inn on Exmoor after which the 992’s began their drive back home following an enjoyable Devon break.
The Register would like to thank our main organiser Clive White, for the time he has put in to create such an interesting and well-arranged weekend.
