If you were not aware, we will celebrate 20 years of 997 this year, and we have our Gaydon event to support. Other celebrations this year are the 50th anniversary of the Turbo, with the original 930 Turbo being launched in 1974. However, in a recent meeting with Porsche AG, we were informed that the celebration would be for any model with Turbo in the name, which includes our own 997 Turbos. These started production in 2006 with twin turbo-chargers developed in co-operation with Borg Warner bolted to a variation of the Mezger engine. This initially developed 475bhp, but that increased throughout its life, and this engine was one of the first mass produced engines to have variable turbine geometry.
