Welcome to the 997 Register

The 997 Register is a very active branch of the Club, supporting 997 owners to get the best from their cars and the Club.

Introduced in October 2004 997 represented a significant relaunch of the 911 that included a major body restyling and interior update, while using much of the rolling chassis of the outgoing 996. This included an uprated version of the water cooled Carrera engine - now offered as a 3.6-litre for the Carrera and a 3.8-litre for the Carrera S.

A cabriolet version of the 997 became available in 2005, followed by the Carrera 4 and Carrera 4S in 2006. That year Porsche also introduced the 480 hp 997 Turbo and the more track focussed GT3.

Model Year 2009 saw the most significant changes to the 997 with the announcement of the ‘Generation 2’ Carreras with all new Direct Fuel Injection (DFI) engines. However, arguably the biggest change was the introduction of the Porsche Doppel Kupplung (PDK) double clutch gearbox.

The Register has and continues to run numerous driving tours both in the UK and abroad. Furthermore, the Register’s forum is home to a wealth of technical advice and knowledge for Club members.
