Hi everyone, I hope you’re all keeping as fit and well as possible and enjoyed the recent Club events at Silverstone and Brands.
ULEZ
ULEZ has expanded across all the London boroughs since August and will extent to other cities in the future. 99% of 996s should be able to meet the criteria for exemption. If you‘ve entered your car’s details only to be told otherwise, all is not lost. Firstly you will need to get a Certificate Of Conformity from Porsche. It’s free, download application from here: porscheclubgb.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=1136852 (see post 16).
Once you receive it from Germany, you can then apply for an exception on TFL and other cities’ websites. If you have any issues please get in touch with me.

Paul Fell
Having been a member previously (apologies for the temporary lapse) I re-joined earlier this year. The Silverstone Festival was my first attendance at any Club event and, wow, what an event it was. The hospitality and friendliness of the staff/volunteers/members was amazing. My 15-year-old lad Harry and I had a fantastic weekend.
I’ve had my 2004 996 C4S since early 2016. I’ve kept it original and, whilst it doesn’t do big mileage, with regular annual maintenance it’s yet to let me down. The children tell me I’m never allowed to sell it and they’re already arguing over who will get it when I’m gone (I’m going to nickname the car ‘The Inheritance’). It’s not a daily driver and every time I take it out it feels like a special occasion – it’s a great driver’s car. I’ve many fond memories of trips out in it, including a blast over to watch Le Mans back in 2018, camping gear loaded in the back and Harry (then 10) as co-pilot. The Silverstone Festival was a reminder of how much fun these sorts of trips are, so I’m already looking at future plans. The picture of my car was taken during the members’ parade lap at Silverstone (thanks to James, a member, who was driving another beautiful 996 C4S, for taking the picture). Thanks to everyone at the Club for a fantastic weekend.
Welcome
A very warm welcome to all new members and remember,we are keen to publish images of your 996 (if possible with yourself included) published in this column, then just email me a photo preferably over 1Mb together with a few words if possible, for inclusion.
