The Great British Car Journey

For several years 944 Register held early season 'Cars and Coffee' type meetings at Rutland Water. These were just an excuse to get the cars out and about early in the year. So early that snow was a real issue a couple of times! A car park and a café were the important features.

Mike Pollock, 944 Register Secretary, has arranged a similar informal early season meeting at The Great British Car Journey in Ambergate, Derbyshire( DE56 2HE) on Sunday, 16 March at 11am.

All transaxle Porsches are welcome, and while no booking is required, it would be helpful to have an idea of numbers expected, so please register your interest using the link below.

They have a reduced entry to the museum of £11 and there is a café and facilities inside. There is a large concrete parking area and the museum has a recently reconfigured display of the cars you, your father and grandfathers owned in years gone by. Mike has been a number of times and thoroughly enjoyed it every time.

It is located on the A6 a little south of Matlock, about 10 miles west of the M1 Junction 28, the A38 runs close by from the southwest, so access is easy from most directions. It also means that the tourist trails and shops of Matlock and the lovely roads of the Peak District are easily reached for a diversion and scenic route home.

Drive out
Mike will be leaving Leicester (Tim Hortons / Sainsburys Grove Farm Triangle LE19 1WT) at 9:30am if anyone wants an easy drive up there in company. If you intend to join me here, please drop him an email.
