Welcome to the 911 Carrera RS Register

The 911 Carrera RS Register covers the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 that was first introduced in 1972 and the later Carerra RS 3.0. Originally developed as a lightweight version of the 911S with improvements and modifications that made it eligible for homogolation in Group 4, the car was a road legal track car. With its distinctive rear spoiler, which improved rear downforce, the 911 Carrera RS was the first production car to be fitted with such aerodynamic aids. It was also the first Porsche to bear the now famous bold Carrera script badging along its flanks.

The car came in three versions, two street legal models, the Carrera Sport (M471) and Carrera Touring (M472), and a full blown racing version, the Carerra RS Racing (M491) referred to as the Carrera RSR. In 1974 the Carrera RS 3.0 was introduced with its larger capacity engine, wider wheels and tyres.

As well as being socially active, the Register provides valuable technical support and helpful advice for owners.
