Porsche Club GB Pirelli Barbercue June 2017
It was good to see members from R14 who had travelled up for the annual barbercue. Although the weather was not so good as last year, the race centre awning kept members dry.
16th June Porsche in the Bay
This years even was held on a sunny June Friday evening, a pleasant change from last year. Fifty-eight cars attended which was a good turn out. I would like to thank those who attended and displaying their cars. Having been at the entrance for a while, I missed the opportunity to mix with members and have a look at their cars. There was a good variety this year, from a 356 to the latest’s 991.2.
I would also like to thank Porsche Cardiff for their attendance and their sponsorship, also for the cars they brought along.
Forty-eight members attended the the meal afterwards at the private function room at the San Martino Italian restaurant in the bay. This gave some opportunity for members to chat to each another and for myself to mix and introduce myself to new members.
Some of the members enjoying the meal afterwards at the San Martino restaurant.

Region’s weekend of the year.
This was held the weekend 23rd to 25th June at the Metropole Hotel Llandrindod Wells.
The owner Justin Baird-Murray and his staff looked after us exceptionally well, a big thanks to Justin and his staff for their support. Reserved parking was set up for our visit, needles to say, 50 cars from the BMW car club were also present at their designated parking spaces. We were kindly invited to their private cocktail party prior to dinner.
Sixteen cars attended which included Peter and Laura Butler from the 991 register in their Turbo S Cab. We also welcomed Richard and Dorris Kingston from the R21 Chiltern Region who had travelled down from London in their 946 Targa.
The Saturday drive consisted of 160 miles which took in the Elan Valley, Lake Vyrnwy and passing the Clywedog reservoir on our returned journey to the hotel.
Buffet luncheon had been arranged at the Brigands Inn Mallwyd, surprisingly we arrived at the scheduled time slot. Unfortunately, one of our members experienced a sick car with one of his cylinders not firing. The car was left at the Brigands Inn and he was was able to catch a lift in another car on our journey around the Lake Vyrnwy. The car was picked up on the return journey and the AA assistance was called.
For the Sunday morning, a visit was arranged for the Abbey Cwm Hir mansion, which is located 8 miles from Llandrindod wells.
The visit to Abbey Cwm Hir was enjoyed by all and a place highly recommended to visit, especially from November onwards when house is turned into a Christmas theme. If there are sufficient members interested in this, I could arrange a club visit on a Sunday afternoon including a luncheon somewhere.
