January Meeting

David Evans is a retired Royal Navy Commander and, more recently, was the Harbour Master of the River Hamble near Southampton. 
He served for 30 years in the Navy and enjoyed a wide variety of appointments.  He trained as a warfare officer and specialised in air defence and electronic warfare. Career highlights include service in the Falklands conflict in 1982 He later served as second-in-command of the destroyer HMS Exeter with lengthy periods in command.  After promotion to Commander, he spent three years in the British Embassy in Washington DC and a further 3 years as Defence Attaché to Tunisia, Algeria and Libya.
Upon retirement from the Navy, he was lucky enough to be chosen as the Marine Director and Harbour Master of the River Hamble, a major harbour for leisure craft on the Solent.  After eleven years, he decided to retire and moved to North Devon.
David is a keen yachtsman and dinghy sailor which ensure that his retirement is suitably action packed!
