June news

This month's news from your Dorset Region

The sun was shining and there were some 50 gleaming Porsches on a March morning at Piper Trimmers, Sparkford. The event was superbly organised by Pat Raymond. On arrival the café offered barista coffee and breakfast. Eventually, the party was split into two ad hoc groups for a detailed tour of the premises and the adjoining automotive businesses.

The morning was celebrated as a glorious start (on many levels) to this year’s fantastic events calendar. Dorset Region extends a truly massive thank you to Pat, and also, to Larry and the team at Piper Trimmers.

The sun shone again on our 26 April ‘Drive-It Day’, where some 45 Porsches arrived at Miltech for a breakfast coffee and a bacon bap. After a couple of hours of the familiar banter, 28 of the cars set off in convoy to the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection. A relaxed afternoon was enjoyed wandering around the aircraft; which were hands on and accessible. The volunteer staff were truly fantastic; naturally engaging and informative, with career experience of the exhibits. A lazy, fun afternoon beautifully curated by Jac and her team.

In addition to the Dorset Region regular Club nights (first Wednesday of the month at Revo’s Hub; third Thursday of the month at The World’s End); there are some real treats in store for June. On the 12 June, Pat Raymond has kindly arranged a lunchtime meet-up at the Lanes Brasserie (BA22 9AJ) – is this becoming an annual event?

SUNSTEDE – ICONS OF PORSCHE
There is still time to purchase tickets from the Silverstone website for the weekend 20-21 June - click HERE. This national PCGB event will be well attended by many Dorset Region members and should prove to be a ‘Summer Solstice Porsche Paradise’.
