As Dorset Region’s ‘Porschemeirion’ WOTY ended everyone agreed that this tour raised the bar; with wholehearted congratulations to Jac for a wonderful event.
The event had begun on the previous Wednesday, and the majority of our party chose to book en route accommodation at The Hilton, Cheltenham; where we enjoyed a superb evening eagerly anticipating our next few days.
Dorset Region encountered some fabulous roads in North Wales
We set off along a scenic route the following day, travelling through Ross-on-Wye and Ludlow. The remainder of our group joined us for lunch at Lakeside Classics, Shrewsbury. Here we were treated to a talk from the owner Henry Thomas; who kindly explained how the company was founded and their philosophy. We were also given an insight into how this high-end Independent Porsche specialist perceived the current market and their expectations for the future.
After a workshop tour, we drove along some lovely roads; passing through film locations used by Top Gear. Arriving in Portmeirion, we settled into our superb accommodation for three nights; the wonderful Portmeirion Hotel, Deudrath Castle and Village.
On Friday morning we had the pleasure of a guided tour of Portmeirion and then ventured out on some of the best roads in North Wales; including the Evo Triangle and Llanberis Pass. A few members chose to chill at the hotel; others visited Caernarfon Castle, while the ‘braver’ challenged themselves on ‘Zip Wire’ in nearby Bethesda.
On Saturday we enjoyed another tour taking in a coastal route, Corris Pass, Mach Loop and Lake Bala; all with surprisingly little traffic on stunning roads.
Dorset Region displayed 35 cars at Lulworth castle – an event that raised £42,000 for charity
The following weekend Dorset Region displayed around 35 cars at the Dorset Blind Association Motor Show, at Lulworth Castle. Our area was by far the largest single Marque display. The event raised an impressive £42,000 for the charity and PCGB were thanked for the efforts in making our display so impressive.
