Given that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery (to our previous RO’s John & Jane Evans) you’ll be pleased to hear we’re heading back to Brooklands for R19’s 2024 Big Xmas Knees Up. Clearly, the impeccable behaviour of R19’s members last year so impressed Brooklands that they’re welcoming us back again. The mad fools.
We can’t promise there’ll be a drunken conga around the various exhibits but what will certainly be in spades are a convivial atmosphere, riveting repartee, first rate grub, wine a-go-go (for the non-drivers amongst you: obvs), Christmas crackers, party hats and even a rather generous raffle featuring all kinds of car-related paraphernalia that you can cram into your glove box. Micro-cloth and scented keyring collectors in R19 will surely not be able to contain themselves.
The menu choices are shown below. Note that we’ll request your choices a little closer to the time of the event.
STARTERS:
- Brulée’d Fig, Parma Ham and Blue Cheese with Rocket and Balsamic sauce.
- Roasted Beetroot Paté with Candied Orange Crumb and Toasted Crostini.
MAIN DISHES:
- Traditional Roast Turkey with Pigs in Blankets.
- Mulled Wine-pressed Beef.
- Roasted Butternut Arancini in rich Tomato Sauce.
All of the above served with Mini Roast Potatoes, Roasted and Glazed Root vegetables and Chestnut Brussel Sprouts.
DESSERTS:
- Classic Christmas Pudding with Brandy sauce.
- Chocolate and Coconut Torte.
